Good news for chocolate lovers. Swiss will continue to dish out its much-loved Frey chocolates onboard for another three years.

The airline has extended its collaboration with Swiss food manufacturer Delica to ensure their world-famous ‘SWISS Schöggeli’ bars from Frey will be offered complimentary to passengers on every SWISS flight.

SWISS passengers have been enjoying ‘SWISS Schöggeli’ milk chocolate bars from Frey, one of Switzerland’s oldest chocolate brands, as a pre-landing treat since 2015.

In addition to its classic incarnation, the ‘SWISS Schöggeli’ is also produced in special seasonal editions for occasions such as Christmas and Easter.

“Switzerland is famed the world over for its chocolate,” says SWISS chief commercial officer Heike Birlenbach. “So, with our being a Swiss airline, our ‘SWISS Schöggeli’ are not just a delight: they’re also a tradition, and a little piece of Switzerland aloft.”

For the record, SWISS cabin crew members handed out some 19.3 million ‘SWISS Schöggeli’ – about 270 tonnes of chocolate – to their passengers last year.

The Frey bars are made with cocoa certificated by the Rainforest Alliance.
