Qantas has announced the appointment of Nick McGlynn as its new executive vice president Asia, based in Singapore.
With over a decade of commercial experience in Singapore and
currently serving as Jetstar Japan’s executive chairman, McGlynn brings
nearly 40 years of global aviation experience, including various senior
roles within Qantas.
McGlynn possesses a deep understanding of the airline industry in
Asia. His transition to the new role will commence in the coming weeks.
He will be responsible for steering Qantas' commercial, financial, and
operational performance across its Asia markets.
This appointment follows the recent assignment of John Simeone as CEO
for Jetstar Asia, a signifier of Qantas' commitment to strengthening
its presence in the region.
Expressing his enthusiasm for the role, McGlynn emphasised the
importance of Asia as a key market for Qantas, “I’m looking forward to
reconnecting with our key partners because there are so many great
initiatives in the pipeline to deliver the best possible experience for
our customers.”
Asia holds significant importance for Qantas, operating over 130
return services per week between Asia and Australia, with a diverse
fleet of aircraft. Additionally, Qantas offers services between
Singapore and London, allowing seamless connectivity for customers
through its strong partner network.
Looking ahead, Qantas plans to expand its network by adding Darwin to
its destinations from Singapore in December, providing travellers with
more options to explore Australia’s Northern Territory.
