Taiwan's Tourism Administration has announced plans to establish tourism service centres in India and Indonesia this year, aiming to bolster its goal of attracting 12 million visitors by 2024.

Despite welcoming around 6.4 million visitors in 2023, a significant drop from pre-pandemic figures of 11 million annually, Taiwan targets an ambitious surge in tourism.

Responding to Kuomintang (KMT) candidate Hou Yu-ih's pledge of 18 million visitors if elected, the Tourism Administration outlined strategies. Southeast Asian visitor numbers are already at 90% pre-Covid levels, with campaigns targeting Californian and Muslim tourists.

Various events throughout the year, including the Lantern Festival and themed holidays, aim to entice global travellers. They are also rolling out with initiatives like forums engaging operators from Japan, South Korea, and Vietnam to increase visitors from these regions.
