With borders open and visitors making a swift comeback, both Macau
and Hong Kong have come together to deepen their tourism cooperation.
This was evident when over 100 delegates from Hong Kong's tourism
industry recently visited Macau for a two-day familiarisation programme.
The delegation consisted of government officials, tourism sector
representatives, and members of the media. During their visit, the
delegates participated in a work meeting, a Macau & Hengqin
destination presentation, and a Hong Kong & Macau travel trade
networking seminar. They also had the opportunity to inspect various
tourist attractions and hotels.
Secretary for Economy and Finance of the Macau SAR Government, Lei
Wai Nong, welcomed the delegation and emphasised the importance of the
recent full reinstatement of mutual visits between the Mainland, Hong
Kong, and Macau. He expressed hope that Hong Kong and Macau could join
forces to promote tourism cooperation and unlock business opportunities.
The tourism authorities of Hong Kong and Macau also held a work
meeting during the delegation's visit. They exchanged perspectives on
the direction of future cooperation between their cities, with a shared
goal of promoting tourism development.
Macau capitalised on the opportunity presented by the delegation's
visit and organised a Hong Kong-Macau travel trade networking seminar.
Industry delegates from both cities discussed and explored business
opportunities.
Macau has made significant efforts to welcome Hong Kong visitors,
including promotional initiatives and special offers. The recent Spring
Festival Golden Week saw a total of 451,000 visitors, 165,000 of which
were from Hong Kong.
