Skyscanner's latest Horizons report shows that the travel landscape in 2024 is both familiar and changing. While traditional travel patterns are coming back and popular places are still popular, travellers from APAC are also looking for good deals and considering destinations closer to home.
Booking windows: There has been a significant shift towards longer-term planning compared to the previous year, indicating a return to traditional seasonality in 2024. Among APAC travellers, there is a greater distribution of booking windows, with an overall increase in bookings over 30 days. Interestingly, booking windows of two months or more now represent over a third of demand in the region.
Destination choices: APAC travellers are showing a preference for intra-regional destinations, with a decline in trips to Europe compared to previous years. Many are opting for short or medium-haul trips, or even domestic getaways, as they prioritise budget-conscious travel while seat capacity returns to the region.
