Vietnam is set to launch its first overseas tourism promotion office
in Vientiane, Laos, marking a significant shift in its approach to
international tourism outreach.
Nguyen Trung Khanh, head of the Vietnam National Administration of
Tourism (VNAT), revealed this development during discussions on
advancing the tourism sector in 2024.
Last year's impressive tourism numbers—12.6 million foreign arrivals
and 108 million domestic travellers—propel Vietnam's ambitions for 2024,
targeting 17-18 million foreign visitors, aiming to restore
pre-pandemic levels.
The VNAT's comprehensive tourism plan for 2025-2030 emphasises
diversification in promotion strategies, encompassing various segments
like community, medical, rural, MICE, golf, and rail tourism.
The move to establish overseas promotion offices aims to address
Vietnam's promotional gap, with the initial focus on Vientiane to engage
Thai and Cambodian markets.
