Foreign tourists visiting the Hagia Sophia Mosque in Istanbul will be charged a €25 euro entrance fee from 15 January 2024 via the ticket office situated on the gallery floor.

The purpose of the entrance fee is to contribute to the maintenance, preservation, and management of the historical site. The fee aims to support ongoing efforts to enhance the visitor experience, ensure proper conservation, and manage the influx of tourists without disrupting the sacred environment of worship within the mosque.

The Culture and Tourism Ministry has also implemented measures to separate worshippers from cultural visitors, aiming to streamline entry and avoid long queues.

Tourists will use designated ramps for entry and exit, minimising disruption to worship. Visitors can explore the Harim floor, Ottoman additions, and Byzantine mosaics, accompanied by a 23-language audio guide accessible via QR code.
