Tokyo, in collaboration with the Tokyo Convention and Visitors Bureau, has ventured into the Metaverse and augmented reality with HELLO! TOKYO FRIENDS.
Launched on 15 February 2024, the interactive portal invites users to explore Tokyo's charm through games and AR photography, fostering friendships in both the virtual realm on Roblox and the city itself.
The Roblox-based Metaverse, MODERN TOKYO, replicates iconic spots like Odaiba Area and Tokyo Tower, enticing users with treasure hunts and Tokyo trivia. Complementing this, the TOKYO HUNT! Web App transforms smartphones into gateways for real-world exploration, connecting virtual rewards to Tokyo's streets.
Collaborating with VTubers Sakura Miko, Mori Calliope, and Gawr Gura, the game offers exclusive items. Simultaneously, the Web App's interactive checkpoints blend real-world and virtual experiences, rewarding users with unique Roblox items.
Coinciding with the launch, the Tokyo's Current Sightseeing Spots 2024 survey delves into Tokyo residents' perceptions, aligning with the Metaverse project's aim to showcase Tokyo globally. This initiative aims to further promote Tokyo's tourism appeal enticing tourists to the city.
