A fleet of 100% electric vehicles (EV) – the Nissan Leaf – have been
added into Sixt Thailand rental car collection in Phuket, giving
eco-minded travellers a more sustainable and convenient way of exploring
the island.
InterContinental Phuket Resort is playing a part in this green
initiative with the installation of several EV charging stations in the
resort. These charging stations are compatible with Sixt’s Nissan Leaf
and other electric cars, allowing fast charging not only for hotel
guests, but also other visitor and residents.
“By offering multiple EV charging stations at the resort, guests can
quickly and conveniently charge their SIXT rental car and ensure a
pleasant trip in Phuket,” said Pumon Somdee, general manager of Sixt
Thailand.
Bjorn Courage, general manager of InterContinental Phuket Resort and
president of the Phuket Hotels Association, shared that this
collaboration between the two companies is part of a bigger strategy of
advocating sustainable living in Phuket.
“This partnership highlights how InterContinental Phuket Resort is
acting today for the future benefit of all,” said Courage. “I am pleased
that SIXT Thailand has the same vision as us; by being the first car
rental company to bring EVs to Phuket, they are displaying a strong
commitment to the local community.”
To further incentivise travellers to adopt green mobility in Phuket,
every customer who rents a Nissan Leaf from Sixt Thailand and uses
InterContinental Phuket Resort’s EV charging stations will be treated to
a complimentary cup of coffee and slice of cake at the resort’s Devas’
Lounge from now until 31 December 2022.
