Regent Seven Seas Cruises celebrated the christening of Seven Seas
Grandeur, its sixth ship, in Miami, Florida on 10 December 2023,
introducing the first Fabergé Egg permanently displayed at sea.
Attended by industry leaders, media, and other VIP guests, the
ceremony featured performances by Kristin Chenoweth and honoured Sarah
Fabergé, the great-granddaughter of Peter Carl Fabergé, the Russian
jeweller who founded the Fabergé company, who assumed the role of the
ship's godmother.
The Fabergé Egg's intricate design, adorned with pearls and diamonds, conceals a rotating hand-painted egg showcasing changing oceanic colours.
Crafted from 18k white gold, the Fabergé Egg, named ‘Journey in
Jewels’, symbolises the seven seas explored by Regent's ships. It
anchors the Grandeur's 1,600-piece art collection that also features
Picasso's works.
President and CEO Harry Sommer lauded the craftsmanship and design
excellence of Seven Seas Grandeur: “Each feature of this ship is more
jaw-dropping than the last, from the world-class collection of art and
tantalising epicurean experiences, to the lavishly designed suites,
restaurants, bars and lounges.”
The 746-passenger Grandeur boasts a crew of 548, maintaining one of
the industry's most impressive staff-to-guest ratios, according to
Regent. Among its eight dining spots, the vessel showcases Regent's
renowned restaurants like Compass Rose, Chartreuse, and Prime 7,
offering a delectable array of 130 dishes exclusively curated for the
Seven Seas Grandeur.
The vessel's inaugural voyage set sail on a 3-day voyage for the
Bahamas following its christening. In July 2024, the Grandeur will offer
an exclusive Fabergé Spotlight Voyage hosted by Sarah Fabergé who will
share insights into the world of Fabergé.
