When an IndiGo flight faced a 10-hour delay, leaving passengers
stranded onboard, chaos erupted, resulting in a passenger slapping the
pilot.
The flight, bound for Goa, from Delhi, on 14 January, was delayed due to bad weather caused by heavy fog at Delhi Airport.
As the delay persisted, tempers flared. A video captured a passenger,
visibly agitated, rushing down the plane's aisle and slapping the
pilot.
Russian model and actress Evgenia Belskia, who shared the video on
Instagram, claimed that the passengers had endured a total wait of 10
hours, with four of those spent inside the aircraft without being
offered food or water.
The frustration, she stated, intensified due to alleged mistreatment
by the pilot and cabin crew. Belskia further shared in her Instagram
post’s comments that the pilot was “not nice” to passengers and chided
them for "asking too many questions".
The passenger involved in the assault, identified as Sahil Katariya,
was subsequently arrested and released on bail. IndiGo, in a statement,
declared him unruly and handed him over to local law enforcement. The
airline is now conducting an internal review of the incident,
contemplating potential inclusion on the 'no-fly list' following
regulatory guidelines.
