This has never happened before in the history of the Henley Passport Index – six countries have tied for the top spot for having the most powerful passport in 2024: Singapore, Japan, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.

Over the last five years, Japan and Singapore held the top spot in the Henley Passport Index. The current shared No.1 position by France, Germany, Italy, and Spain marks a significant power shift for Europe.

Citizens of these six countries now have unparalleled access to an impressive 194 destinations, setting an all-time record in the index's 19-year history.
