Norwegian Cruise Line’s (NCL) latest ship, the Norwegian Prima, is the first of six in the new Prima Class fleet that features industry-first and new-to-brand experiences. Norwegian Prima raises the curtain with Tony Award®-nominated musical “Summer: The Donna Summer Musical” as its interactive headlining act.

Norwegian Prima will also highlight speed and action in its repertoire of onboard experiences. This includes the world’s first venue that transforms from a three-storey theatre into a Vegas-style nightclub, the fastest freefall-drop dry slides at sea and the largest racetrack at sea.

According to Harry Sommer, president and CEO of NCL, Norwegian Prima will not only elevate the guest experience but also provide guests with the adrenaline rush and multisensory overload that defines the brand.

“When we launched Norwegian Prima, we aimed at going beyond expectations, providing our guests with more wide-open spaces, elevated service, thoughtful design and a variety of unforgettable experiences, and this latest unveiling of our entertainment and onboard activities line-up is going to have the wow factor they’ve yearned for in a much-anticipated cruise vacation,” he added.

Norwegian Prima features a three-storey transformational theatre that converts from a high-tech performance stage into an expansive dance floor. It is a world-first innovation with customisable seating and an LED-screen that is nearly half the size of the venue. Technology and award-winning productions come together in the venue to produce Donna Summer’s 75-minute immersive musical. Guests go from audience to participant when the theatre becomes a disco and spins Summer’s disco medleys.

The Drop is the world’s first freefall dry slide with a 10-storey plunge. Thrill seekers will experience a G-force that is more intense than that of an accelerating F1 racecar. They can get competitive as well at The Rush, which has duelling dry slides for guests to compete and outrace each other.

Another first offered by a cruise line, the Prima Speedway is a three-level go-kart racetrack that takes riders through the funnel of the ship and has 14 challenging turns where 15 drivers can simultaneously race on the open ocean, reaching speeds of more than 50 kph over more than 420 metres of race track.

Voyages to Northern Europe begin in the northern hemisphere summer of 2022 for Norwegian Prima, which is 294 metres long, more than 142,000 gross tons and accommodates 3,215 guests at double occupancy.
