World Dream has become the first cruise ship in Asia Pacific to receive certifications from both the United World Halal Development (UNWHD) as well as Global Vegetarian Certification Services (GVCS), further widening its offerings to Muslim and vegetarian guests.
“As an Asian homegrown brand, it gives us great pleasure to provide a holistic halal-friendly cruise experience for our guests as part of Dream Cruises’ wide-range of offerings to cater to the diverse Asian population. Following on previous certifications for Genting Dream in Singapore and World Dream in Hong Kong, this new certification encompasses not only cuisine but the overall elevated halal lifestyle on board our ship,” said Michael Goh, president, Dream Cruises.
“UNWHD's vision was always to have a Halal friendly cruise ship operating in Asian waters and we are excited about this new partnership with Genting Cruise Lines. Singapore has always been....a front runner for taking new and unique initiatives and setting as an example for other countries to follow as a pioneer,” said Mohamed Jinna, chairman, UNWHD.
New dedicated corners for halal cuisine and farm-to-table fares for vegetarians have been available since last year's December festive sailings.
Muslim guests onboard can check out the dedicated halal corner at The Lido, which serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. Selected F&B restaurants as well as room service, will also incorporate halal options into their menus
"for extra convenience.”
All meals are prepared in a dedicated halal central kitchen with halal certified ingredients, while during special seasons such as Ramadan, special Sahur/Sehari menus (pre-dawn meal) or Iftar menu (fast-breaking meal) arrangements can be made.
Completing the experience for the Muslim guest are prayer rooms, mats and compasses, 24-hour medical centre with special attention to female patients, and exclusive services at the Crystal Life Spa and Main Pool with gender requirements in mind.
For health conscious and vegetarian guests, World Dream also caters plant-based dining options and meatless food alternatives, at a dedicated Vegetarian corner offering farm-to-plate dining.
These two latest F&B additions made their appearance last December over the Christmas and New Year festive season, on World Dream's two-and-three-night “Merry Super Seacation” itineraries.
For the Lunar New Year season which ends 18 February 2021, World Dream will be showcasing Chinese traditions from different regions alongside specialty dishes.
