Taipei's strategic 'Undiscovered Taipei' campaign is enticing
Malaysian and Singaporean tourists with an array of offerings, from
culinary delights to exclusive wedding photography packages.
The initiative not only involves networking events in Kuala Lumpur
and Singapore to attract travel agencies but also aims to resonate with
Chinese communities and Muslim travellers in Malaysia.
In collaboration with China Airlines (CAL) and local businesses,
Taipei's Department of Information and Tourism has curated a
limited-edition "Treasure-Filled Taipei Travel Gift Bags".
Exclusive to Malaysians and Singaporeans booking CAL flights to
Taipei between 1 September to 31 December, the gift bag includes passes
to Taipei Metro, Maokong Gondola, Taipei Sightseeing Bus, and Taipei
Children's Amusement Park. Moreover, it encompasses diverse vouchers for
experiences such as afternoon tea, pineapple sets, accommodation
discounts, and wedding photography packages.
Passport holders from these nations can also receive a 10% discount
at around 20 beef noodle restaurants and enjoy additional wedding
photoshoot privileges through Ivy Bride, a renowned wedding service
provider in Zhongzheng District.
This strategic campaign aligns with evolving tourism patterns, as
evidenced by 200,000 Malaysian visitors in the first half of this year.
Taipei's goal is to double this figure, aiming for 400,000 visitors by
the close of 2023, according to insights from Abe Chow, Director at the
Taiwan Tourism Bureau's Kuala Lumpur office.
With Malaysia ranking as the fifth-largest source of international
visitors for Taipei, the city is making concerted efforts to cater to
diverse traveller interests, including enhancing its appeal to Muslim
travelers. Through these initiatives, Taipei seeks to create enduring
connections and memorable experiences for its visitors.
