Changi Airport Group (CAG) has introduced Changi Carbon Offsets,
providing travellers a convenient avenue to counterbalance the carbon
footprint generated by their air travel, irrespective of their airline
choice.
Available via the Changi Airport website and Changi App, a
user-friendly carbon calculator helps passengers estimate emissions from
upcoming flights based on origin, destination, and travel class.
Passengers can then opt to offset these emissions by making payment
using their credit card.
In collaboration with Carbon Clicks, a New Zealand-based carbon
offset firm, CAG has curated a selection of robust carbon offset
initiatives. These projects aim to make a tangible environmental and
societal impact. They involve preserving and safeguarding existing
forests in Indonesia, afforestation efforts in China, and the
establishment of wind power generation in India. Specific project
details are available in the Annex.
Changi Carbon Offsets align with CAG's ongoing sustainability efforts
to mitigate carbon emissions. Collaborating with the airport community,
CAG is committed to enhancing the energy efficiency of airport
buildings, refining waste management and recycling practices, conserving
water resources, and adapting airport facilities to climate change
impacts.
In line with the Changi Carbon Offsets programme, Audrey Lee, group
senior vice president of Regulatory Affairs and Sustainability, affirmed
CAG's dedication to reducing emissions. She announced CAG's pledge to
acquire carbon offsets for all future business travel conducted by CAG
staff.
