The Ascott Limited (Ascott) has opened the doors to lyf Tenjin Fukuoka, marking the company's first lyf-branded coliving property in Japan.

The 131-unit property is located in Fukuoka's major shopping and recreational centre of Tenjin, with the Nishitetsu Fukuoka and Tenjin Minami train stations a five-minute walk away.

Conceived as a hybrid lodging solution that combines the best of serviced residences, hotels and coliving apartments, the property includes a ‘Connect’ zone with open coworking and lounge spaces, social kitchen ‘Bond’ to cook together, as well as weekly activities including talks on self-development or wellness, photography, cooking or craft workshops held virtually and in-person.

Guests can expect a digital stay with the ‘Discover ASR’ mobile app, enabling access to apartments, check-in and out, payments, and communicating with lyf staff and other guests via a social wall.

The hotel's design reflects Fukuoka's port city status, such as room illustrations by Singaporean artist, Alvin Tan, and artworks at social spaces by local artists from Fukuoka - Kazuhiko Ifuku and Marumiyan.

Nearby cultural attractions include the Kushida Shrine and Tochoji Temple, and the busy Daimyo and Imaizumi areas, surrounded by major malls, vintage and boutique stores, street food stalls, cafes and nightlife. Fukuoka Airport is a 20-minute drive away.

Besides Fukuoka, new lyf properties will open this year in Singapore, Hangzhou, Shanghai and Xi’an.

Between 2022 and 2024, seven more lyf properties are slated to open in Beijing, Cebu, Danang, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Melbourne and Shanghai.
