Starting 30 June, Royal Caribbean International (RCI) will bring about the comeback of destination cruising from Singapore. Spectrum of the Seas will begin cruising to ports in Malaysia with new 3- and 4-night itineraries.

Cruisers will be able to disembark to explore Penang and Kuala Lumpur on these new sailings either free-and-easy or via a range of shore excursions curated by RCI which include a trip to Southeast Asia’s oldest Anglican church in Penang or an adventure into the Batu Caves of Kuala Lumpur.

The return of Singapore’s regional sailings is ahead of schedule. When Spectrum of the Seas first arrived in Singapore in April, RCI announced that it will offer destination cruises to other Southeast Asian ports only from October onwards.

With the earlier resumption of regional sailings, Angie Stephen, vice president and managing director, Asia-Pacific, RCI, is thrilled that RCI is the “first cruise line in Singapore to reconnect holidaymakers with Asia’s beautiful destinations once again.”

This milestone would not have been possible without the harmonisation of standards among authorities from Singapore and Malaysia.

According to Annie Chang, director of cruise for Singapore Tourism Board, “We have been working closely with various governments in Southeast Asia to align on cruise protocols and policies, and are excited to bring back port calls in Malaysia for sailings as a start.”
